Poor Baby

My poor baby Siddy is sick. He's had a fever for the past few days - since this past Saturday, as a matter of fact. We took him to the doctor's yesterday. They said he has an upper respiratory viral infection. With viruses there's not much you can do except ease the symptoms. So last night, as the night before, he had some Tylenol to bring down his fever. That was about 9:30 pm. At 1:20 am, for some reason I just woke up, and there he was sitting up in his crib with his thumb in his mouth. Of course, I jumped up and asked him what was wrong but since he couldn't articulate it to me I just took him out of his bed. I soon smelled what was wrong this time - did he ever do a load in his diaper - peeyew! I changed him and was ready to put him back to bed (his fever had been gone for hours), but with his system all emptied out he realized he was hungry. Down the stairs we went for two waffles and some juice. 2:00 am I finally dragged him into bed (he slept with us). I woke up this morning to find a quarter-sized stain of blood on the bed and dry blood in one of his nostrils and, of course, on one of his fingers. I don't know what caused it. I'm assuming it's his cold. I had the vaporizer running so I don't think the air was too dry. I'll run it again tonight. In the meantime, his father says he's almost back to his normal bouncy self.

Did I mention that I love Sidney's feet! I like to lick his toes and tickle him.

Larger Than Life

When Sidney's face is within a few inches of my own, I'm in awe. He's so perfect. Everything about him - his skin is so smooth and soft, his eyes are bright and inquisitive, his nose is small and pinchable, his lips are juicy (well, his father always makes fun of the fact that he has no top lip and his bottom one pouts out so much). As I look at him, he looks at me. Sometimes he smiles, sometimes he just looks. Sometimes we laugh and roll around. Either way, I love having him in my space - even when he's crying.

For Real?

If emailing my blogs works, it will be really convenient.  But what can I do about the auto-attached footers???

Would You Believe?

This Sidney just walks around like he owns the place. I mean, he does, but still. Take tonight for example. I had just bathed him and turned around to get a clean diaper. He calls to me and I turn around I see him standing there...peeing on my bedroom carpet! To make matters worse, he stops for a second when he hears my reaction, takes a few steps forward, and finishes the job. I turn around and walk away and tell his father to get him ready for bed. He does, but he leaves the wet carpet for me. On a normal day I would have laughed at the scene (no, this isn't the first episode). But tonight I'm cranky, and tired, and I think I'm getting a cold. Poor babies who have to deal with me.

"N-O"

It's amazing how two letters put together can so easily frustrate. Sidney has now learned to say the word 'no'. It's funny though because he says it all the time, even when he really means 'yes'. I don't get too frustrated yet since I know he doesn't understand the concept fully. I just have to laugh as he shakes his head and proceeds to eat his food anyway.

Yesterday

Everyday is a wonderful new experience. I know, the little things don't seem like much to those who don't have children, but to us parents, they mean the world. Yesterday, Sidney handed me something and I told him, "Thank you." He responded with, "You're welcome." It seemed so sincere. To understand my joy better, this must be taken in context - Sidney is just over a year and a half. What an angel.
