Home Show
I am always amazed at what a trooper Sidney is. We took him to the Home Show yesterday and I think he had a pretty good time. He especially like the Vita Mix demo where he got to eat peanut butter, ice cream, and drink smoothies. But besides that, he did a lot of walking. We were there for over three hours, I'd say, and he walked about half the time. By the end, though, he didn't make it out of the building on his own - he was knocked out. We had intended to bring his stroller but somehow forgot it. Actually I didn't see it in the living room where it's been the past few days, so I thought my husband had already put it in the car. He assumed I had. It turns out Sidney had pushed it into the kitchen.

A Shot
It didn't go as badly as I expected. I guess on who's perspective you're looking at it from. This time Karl came too. Not so much because I'm barely strongly enough (in heart or muscle) to handle a possessed child about to get a shot, but because he had to take Sidney to daycare afterwards. The nurse (who always seems to move in slow motion to me - much too deliberate in sticking that needle in) acted more like a normal nurse this time. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice nurse and everything. (Sigh.) I don't know. My heart just breaks to watch Sidney trying to get away and he's screaming and now that he can talk he keeps asking to "come". The hardest part is knowing I'm supposed to be protecting and comforting him but as people are hurting him (even if it's for a 'good' reason) I can't do anything but watch. And he sees me just watching. And he feels his father holding him down to be hurt and he doesn't understand why. My heart just breaks.

The Cutest
Since Sidney started talking he's been singing himself to sleep. I used to sing to him (and still do sometimes) when I knew he was tired. Now, if I don't sing he'll do it himself. Sometimes he'll even sing with me. If I ever figure out how to get audio in my blog I'll have to put up a recording of him singing.

First Trip
I'll have to post some pix later, but in the meantime, I have to say that Sidney was an angel on his first post-labor international trip. We flew to Canada and he was extremely well-behaved on the flights there and back. People commented afterwards.
You should have seen how excited he was to be in a big city. His whole body was involved in the excitement as cars and trucks and especially buses drove past us. And the cold, he loved! I guess it helped that we had him padded like a pea in a pod with only his face showing.
